Wow, this was one of the most amazing times on our trip, and it wasn't even planned! So everything closes at like, noon in DC (5:30pm) so we were at our hotel trying to think of something to do. I look in the hotel phonebook for some nearby attractions and I see Langley on the map. Langley! How could we have forgotten the CIA headquarters?
Probably because it's not advertised in my travel book or on any travelers map we picked up. So naturally we decided to drive up the main highway into Langley and hope for some signs saying "CIA Next Left". Good one. But we're driving down Langley's main drag and we
do see a sign and I had to hurry and stick my head out the window to catch this wonderful picture. We get in the left turn lane and it looks fishy. I told Ryan it doesn't look like a place we should enter but he goes ahead and does it anyway (the story of our trip). All of a sudden we see these signs saying "U-TURN FOR UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS" and "NO PHOTOGRAPHY". There were like a million of them. Then we see these huge gates, so Ryan pauses for a second and tries to figure out where they want us to turn around. We turn and within a few seconds, two cop cars come out with their lights blazing! The cops walk to both sides of our car and one of them asks us for our driver's licenses. After what felt like an hour they come back and asked us why we were were here and what our
SSNs were,
lol. No joke! They said they pulled us over because we hesitated before turning around. I thought it was because they saw me take a picture (which thankfully Ryan said to turn off the flash, who knows what would have happened). The cop
was very polite nonetheless and sent us on our giddy way... and we could have sworn there were cars following us on the way home (well I was hoping there were, just kidding). I then call my brother but wondered if they were tapping our phones, lol. We finally arrived home and went to bed. Ryan doesn't even need to
exaggerate this story to make it interesting, it was nuts!
